In 2015, David Jolly crashed Charlie Crist’s campaign for Congress and called him what most Floridians were already thinking at the time: “a huckster and a fraud who will say absolutely anything he wants just to get elected.”
Ten years later, newly minted Democrat David Jolly is running for Governor – and those same words now apply perfectly to him.
Since being beaten by Crist, Jolly has reinvented himself more times than we can count. Republican. Independent. Third party. Democrat. MSNBC talking head. Pro-life to pro-choice. Second Amendment supporter to gun control zealot. Just like Crist, Jolly doesn’t have a core belief – he’s a political chameleon.
“A person who is in this out of political convenience, not political conviction.”
– David Jolly on Charlie Crist, 2015
Today, that quote reads like a confession.
“David Jolly isn’t running on principle – he’s running on desperation,” said Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power. “Jolly is a political opportunist and professional flip-flopper, recycling the Charlie Crist playbook. Florida voters have seen this movie before – and we know how it ends. And like most sequels, the Charlie Crist reboot is worse than the original.”
