President Trump Extols Florida as a Haven for Those Fleeing Political Oppression

President Donald J. Trump was in south Florida on the first anniversary of his historic reelection where he addressed the American Business Forum in Miami. The president opened his enthusiastically received remarks celebrating his extraordinary electoral victory in Florida in 2024. “We won the great state of Florida by 1.4 million votes, which is unprecedented, including right here in Miami Dade County where we won by 11 points,” said President Trump adding that “Miami is a haven for those fleeing political oppression.”

President Trump also suggested that Miami would become a refuge to New Yorker City residents who are fleeing communism and the failed socialist policies newly elected Zohran Mamdani campaigned on.

“Florida is a conservative stronghold that protects freedom and opportunity. President Trump’s extraordinary leadership has bolstered our strong Republican leaders and Florida once again shows the nation what leadership, freedom, and common sense look like,” said Evan Power, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. “The Sunshine State rejects the failed left-wing policies that the new face of the Democrat Party, Zohran Mamdani, celebrates. Floridians know freedom works.”

President Trump carried Florida by an overwhelming 13-point margin earning all 30 of the state’s electoral votes and delivering one of the largest Republican victories in Florida’s modern political history. For the first time in more than three decades, Miami-Dade County that was long considered a bastion for Democrats, turned red for a Republican presidential candidate.

“Lower taxes, safer communities, and freedom from government overreach are not talking points, they are the results of our successful policies,” said Power.
