Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power released the following statement after Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s visit to Miami:

“Gretchen Whitmer loved Florida’s freedom so much she vacationed here during her own lockdowns. Now she’s back trashing our leadership and trying to bring the same failed policies Floridians have already rejected,” Power said.

During her trip, Whitmer said she’s “not writing off a community because it looks Red.”

“Delusional Democrats,” Power said. “Florida has nearly 1.4 million more registered Republicans than Democrats because voters have made their choice clear. The Left has no path forward in the Sunshine State, because Floridans want freedom.”

Florida doesn’t want Michigan’s high taxes, lockdowns, assaults on our Constitutional rights, restrictions on school choice, or the craziness of allowing boys in girls’ sports and men in women’s bathrooms. Floridians want freedom, opportunity, and common sense.

“While Whitmer was shutting down small businesses and silencing critics, Governor DeSantis kept Florida open and thriving,” Power added. “We’ll keep protecting families, defending freedom, and leading the way.”
