The Republican Party of Florida today launched a statewide petition demanding accountability from Florida Democrats following the federal indictment of Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick over the alleged theft of more than $5 million in FEMA disaster-relief funds.
According to prosecutors, funds intended for COVID-19 were allegedly laundered and diverted to finance her 2021 congressional campaign and personal luxury expenses, including a reported $109,000 diamond ring.
Despite the seriousness of these allegations, Florida Democrats, including Representatives Jared Moskowitz, Darren Soto, Maxwell Frost, and Kathy Castor—have remained silent.
Enough is enough.
The petition calls on every Florida Democrat Member of Congress to go on the record and answer:
“Florida taxpayers deserve answers, not silence,” said Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power. “These are serious allegations of stealing disaster-relief funds meant for people in need. If Florida Democrats refuse to call for accountability, they are choosing to protect one of their own instead of standing with the people they represent.”
The Republican Party of Florida is urging Floridians to sign the petition and contact their representatives directly.
Silence is not neutrality. It is complicity. Florida families will not tolerate disaster-relief funds being used for political campaigns or personal luxury.
We demand accountability now. No more dodging. No more cover-ups.
Florida Democrats must choose: stand with the people or embrace the scandal.
