Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power issued the following statement calling on the United States Senate to immediately confirm Senator Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of Homeland Security:

“Senator Markwayne Mullin has proven himself as a fighter for the American people and a relentless advocate for border security and the rule of law. At a time when strong leadership is needed to continue restoring order at our southern border, there is no room for delay or political gamesmanship.

The United States Senate must confirm Senator Mullin as Secretary of Homeland Security without delay. The American people deserve immediate action to secure the border, stop the flow of illegal drugs, and end the chaos created by years of Democrat mismanagement. Senator Mullin has the experience, the backbone, and the commitment to get the job done on day one, and the Senate should act accordingly.”
