Florida Democrat Darryl Jones Defames Charlie Kirk, Fans Division

The Republican Party of Florida today blasted Leon County School Board Member Darryl Jones for his disgraceful remarks about Charlie Kirk—remarks that peddle lies and fuel the very division tearing communities apart. Kirk was assassinated by someone radicalized by left-wing rhetoric, yet Jones still stoops to name-calling and slander.

Jones wrote:

“The problem is that the Commissioner of Education from his lofty position found it necessary to inform an entire profession that it should not comment on the murder of a racist, misogynist, homophobic klansman in negative terms.”

For an elected official charged with leading Leon County Schools, these words are reckless, inflammatory, and beneath the dignity of his office. At a moment when Florida and the nation are mourning, Jones chose smear over statesmanship, division over unity.

Charlie Kirk was a man who championed faith, family, education, and freedom. He inspired millions to live with conviction, gave young Americans purpose rooted in faith and country, and stood as a voice for liberty. Since his passing, churches across America have been overflowing in revival—a living testament to what Kirk truly stood for. Nothing close to the lies Jones spewed.

“Darryl Jones is supposed to be leading in education, but instead he’s stoking the flames of division and dishonoring the office he holds,” said Chairman Evan Power. “Mark our words: we will root out the low-life radical agitators who have embedded themselves in our education system.”

Jones’s remarks came in response to Commissioner of Education Stasi Kamoutsas stating “in Florida, we uphold the First Amendment and we foster civil discourse, as well as open dialogue in our schools, (but) this commitment does not extend to promoting or glorifying violence as a means of resolving disagreement,” following the firing of a teacher for “grossly immoral” comments regarding Charlie Kirk. Democrat leaders must condemn Jones’ vile rhetoric and stand against those celebrating political violence.
